So you want to get married 🙂

Marriage is a wonderful commitment between two people who want to dream, plan, support and live their lives together.

It should be celebrated and rejoiced and I can help you plan your special ceremony, personalised to perfectly represent you as a couple.

It is often said, Love is love – regardless.  Marriage can be for people who are young or old, or of the same sex, those previously married or never married before.

If two people can be legally married I am happy to officiate!

Whether you want a big lavish affair, a small gathering of close family and friends or a ceremony on the down low (you only need two adult witnesses and a celebrant in attendance to legalise a marriage) your wedding day should be just how you want it to be!

As a celebrant who genuinely cares I can ensure all legal requirements are met, help you write vows for one another and design and deliver a ceremony that you will remember and cherish forever.

The Process

Step 1: Contact me and we can make a time to have a chat!

By meeting up in person (or via skype or phone if we can’t) it gives us a chance to get to know each other, and I can learn about what you would like for your wedding ceremony.  If you decide to book me for the day, a deposit can be paid and we can lock it in!

At this time it is usual for the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) to be completed (this is a legal requirement that must be done at least one month prior to your wedding date and is valid for up to 18 months).

Don’t worry if you’re not sure on all the details or if you haven’t decided on certain options for your wedding -there is time to sort them all out, and I can give you ideas and suggestions for you to take away and think about.  These may include examples of vows, readings, music and other ceremonies that you might like to add (such as a sand ceremony, lighting candles or a ‘warming of the rings’).

I can also write original elements with you both in mind and I can help you write personalised, heartfelt vows.

Step 2:  I plan your ceremony!

We can correspond via email or text or meet in person to come up with a script that you are happy with.  With the information I gather from you, and now knowing you a bit better as a couple, and as individuals, it will be personal and perfect for you.

There is certain wording that must be included to legalise the marriage, but it’s my job to make sure that it’s incorporated into the ceremony, and I will make you aware of what it is.  The ceremony script for your wedding day is only finalised when I have your tick of approval!

Step 3:  The Rehearsal

Your wedding day is literally around the corner, and I believe a rehearsal with the marrying couple and their wedding party is very beneficial.  We can run through the format, work out who will stand where and how it will run.  It’s a chance to make sure it all works well, last minute questions can be answered and it helps calm any nerves with a better understanding of how it will flow!

Step 4:  The Wedding Day

This is it!  I will arrive early at your wedding venue to ensure everything is in order and ready to go.  I will deliver the service with the warmth and the excitement and the love that you deserve and guide you through it all.

Legal documents will be signed, your ceremonial marriage certificate will be presented and you can start your lives together as a married couple!!

Step 5:  The follow up

It’s my job now to lodge the necessary paperwork with the Department of Births, Deaths and Marriages to have your marriage legally registered.  Your official marriage certificate (for legal purposes) will be forwarded to you in due course.

I will also make contact with you in the coming weeks to make sure you were happy with everything, and to see how you are both enjoying life as a married couple.
